If I were looking for someone with the name Menefee, I would check with Randall Osbourne on the Kentucky board. He is currently reseraching Nathan Menefee, who evidentally played many roles on the Confederate side, for an upcoming book. He may have some information on your ancestor or at least be able to point you in the right direction. Give it a shot.
