Hi Keith,

How very kind of you to offer to help further.......

My SC ancestor's name was David Wesley Ruff, but was listed under the material I got from Broadfoot as D. W. Ruff, 12 South Carolina Infantry, 12th Regiment, Company F and private. Film Number M381 roll 28.

I think : David was born in 1827 Fairfield Co., SC, son of Silas Ruff and Judith Weston? Elkin. He married Isabelle Nelson in 1858? Census in 1860 gives him with 1 year old son, but my ancestor lady (his daughter) was Margaret Wesley Ruff, or M. Wesley Ruff, born 1862 two months before David died in Ashland Hospital, VA after the Battle at Winchester, VA? The 1870 census is missing David, but added Margaret, and they apparently were living with relatives.

I would appreciate your checking on Oakwood if he could be identified there. Are there Interment cards available anywhere? Perhaps it would identify his parents, or wife? or son? or daughter?...I heard he died intestate.

Thank you.......Linda
