I'm going by the cemetery office probably on Monday. However the best source for names at Hollywood is a compatriot in California that has confirmed almost 11,000 of them. I'm waiting to hear back from him as well. He's been working for over twelve years trying to match service records and burial records with the numbers on the sections at Oakwood. The soldier that got this first stone is the GG Grandfather of my SCV Camp's 1st Lt. Commander's wife. Pvt Andrew B. Walker, Co. G, 22nd Virginia Infantry. Maybe of interest to Patricia is that Walker died 15 July 1862 of wounds received at Frayser's Farm.

The city of Richmond, who owns and maintains the cemetery property, has always maintained that only flat markers were allowed. Lately the city's attorneys and The State Attorney General have stated otherwise. Of course we knew that the only reason they didn't want upright markers was the additional time that it would take to cut the grass. There are a good number of flat markers at Oakwood but we want to see a field of marble and granite. In the past ten or so years the number of new markers at Hollywood has grown greatly. We hope the same will happen at Oakwood. If we can find that your ancestors rest at Oakwood I urge you to submit the forms to the Veterans Aministration and have their grave appropriately marked.
