Re: Oakwood Cemetery Announcement

"From what I'm finding, there were a lot of deaths in the Army of Northern Virginia due to typoid fever in the spring of 1862."

My ggf died near Seven Pines, apparently of disease. Lemuel H. Boring was with Co. A, 18th Georgia Infantry. According to Chris Ferguson he was interred on 1 May 1862. His name appears in the 1862 burial ledger on page 28, line 67. His grave is in Range AJ, Lot 50.

Keith, Daryl, and Chris did all the work in locating my ggf. May you all have the same luck. I hope to get up there this year and put up a stone for him and have a memorial service, with their help. My two great uncles, also in Co. A of the 18th Ga., survived wounds, capture, and a year at Camp Douglas and Pt. Lookout. They are both in Georgia. Stan
