Re: 15th VA Infantry (1861-'62)

I don't know about Maryland; however, I found a treasure trove of information about names, descriptions, and even pictures of farms, houses, businesses, schools, and churches in VA by going into the State Archives (Library of Virginia) and looking into a WPA project undertaken in VA called the Historical inventory. They sent out writers, librarians, academics, and other "persons of letters" to take pictures and write up every building in each county in the state. This program was conducted in VA from 1936-1940. It would not surprise me to learn that Maryland did something similar. In VA all place names are cataloged by County. You may want to check with Maryland state archives and see what they have that may have been done under the WPA during the depression years.
