Re: Marriage in Virginia - Frank Field(s)

Jim,

I do agree with the quality situation from Lib. of VA. I have a related question. I purchased a full record from, is it "Broadfoot"(?) for a great grand uncle of mine, John T. Massey, who served first in the 9th VA Cav. Co. "B" and then transferred to Thornton's Company, Caroline Light Artillery, where he served out the War of Northern Agression. I needed the official records because he does not have an individual head stone on his grave in Caroline Co. I plan to have a VA stone, (CSA Vet) set this coming summer on his grave. The Broadfoot records are good enough for that purpose, but I would like a "frame-able" copy of the Parole document as it bares his signature. Are the copies of the records you can get better quality? What they sent was very helpful, except for the quality of the certificate of parole issued in April of 1865. It was very dark in some places and appeares to be an inferior xerox copy. Thank you,

Dr. Robert Massey
