25th Regt.Virginia Cav., Co. D

I am looking for info on 1st Lt. Amos Miller. He was born in Scott County, Virginia August 16, 1834. While I know he died in Scott County also, I am unsure when. Would like to know anything about his service record and if he participated in any battles. Amos was the son of Daniel Miller of Scott County, Va. Apparently Daniel was a "sutlers minister"...at least that is what was reported in The Richmond Daily Dispatch on April 4, 1863 when the paper reported that Daniel had been robbed and murdered at his home. I know what a sutler was but wondering what a sutlers minister is if you could help. Here is where it gets real interesting...rumor has it that Dr. Oliver Swan, Daniel's son-in-law, is the murderer. Swan was in the 48th Virginia Infantry...Clinch Mountain Boomers is on one piece of info I have, then Co. F, and then Co. H. I think he is from Maryland but not completely sure as he is on two different census' in 1860 (I think)...one in Scott Co., and one in Washington Co., Va. Even the ages are different. But I am almost 100% sure they are one and the same. He is married to Daniel's daughter, Elizabeth. Anything you can dig up on Dr. Swan would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so very much!
