Re: Miscellaneous VA Burials in Georgia

This is a late response seeking more information about the information you provided on 5 November 2006 and Johnny Reb expanded upon the next day regarding David C. Kendrick, Co. A, buried Anderson Cemetery, Ringgold, GA; paroled Appomattox; VA marker. Johnny Reb identified this man as David C. Kendrick, A/42Va. Inf. The problem I have run into is that the only David C. Kendrick paroled at Appomattox, according to The Appomattox Paroles by W.G. Nine and Ronald Wilson, served in the 10th Alabama Infantry. The David Kendrick who served in the 42nd Va. Inf. was not paroled at Appomattox, according to the records I have collected; however, because Kendrick's 42nd Va records end on 31 October 1864, it is not impossible that he later joined the 10th Alabama. While I don't think such a unit switch to be likely, I do not want to rule it out without following up. Can you, or perhaps Johnny Reb, provide more information on the David C. Kendrick buried in Ringgold? Is your note about a VA marker an indication that the soldier came from Virginia, or that the Veterans Administration provided the marker? Any help you or others can provide would be appreciated.
