Re: United States forts named after Confederates?

Most U.S. forts named after Confederate generals date from the early days of WWII, but two or three hark back to WWI. Some -- for example, Camp Lee VA -- had been state training centers handed over to the Federal authorities without a name change.

It's going to be interesting to see how the Army responds to calls to change names of these Federal installations to something more acceptable.

Camp Jackson in Columbia SC was named for President Andrew Jackson, a native of that state.
