Re: 9th Virginia Cavalry, Co A. Soldier

The only service records the National Archives had were two copies one of which was the service record of J.W. Garrison being in the 9th Virginia Cavalry, Co. A, Johnson's Regiment with a hand-written number at the top of "915-a" and enlistment of Private with card number only of 52218374.

The other copy records the register of soldier killed in battle or died of wounds or disease. Date of death is April 28, 1864 at Brandy Station. The record was received January 10, 1865 with the number of the certificate being 2976. The card is in the Confed. Arch., Chap. 10, File No. 8, page 99 signed by copyist W.L. Ray.

Thank you kindly for the information.
