Again, I believe we need to examine CSR's M331, Records of Confederate General and Staff Officers for this chap.

Also there is M347, Unfiled Papers and Slips Belonging to Confederate Compiled Service Records, Roll 88 contains papers for surnames Cra-Crav.

This gentleman was of substantial means. His son applying for a Commission in the Quartermaster's Department suggests to me that his father may well have been a high ranking member of that department.

I have checked the Guide to the Archives of the Government of the Confederate States of America held by the National Archives but find no mention of this Craig.

I might also suggest a visit to the National Archives in Washington, DC and the "Old Army" Archivists. They reside in the bowels of the NA reached from the Pennsylvania entrance.
