Time permitting it should be possible to cover a reasonable amount of
ground and Gettysburg is a good place to start. A well prepared talk
from an enthusiastic guide can make a visit memorable and worthwhile.

Currently reading The Civil War and The Wars of the 19th Century
by Brian Holden Reid - which helps to put events into context.

I shall browse for the magazines.
