Night March

Can you or anyone help me?

About three or four months ago, I read an account of a night march in May or June 1864.

As Grant started to move the Army of the Potomac by the left flank to get around Lee's right, the two armies began to march along parallel roads. At times the two armies marched these roads for quite a few miles and at times were within less than a 100 yards to one another.

The southern boys had to continually tap the men in front and say NO CHEERS as they knew that Lee was soon to pass and they dared not give their position away.

Can any friend out there guide me to one or two accounts as I have a pretty fair library and just cannot
remember where I read it.

Your Obedient Servant,

Roy

P.S. Please feel free to dial me up at any time for and WAR Between The States Discussion.
