The Virginia in the Civil War Message Board

civil war soldier

I'm looking for some help finding out anything about some family from around the Williamsburg Virginia area that fought for the CSA Two brothers, Augustus Henry Cooke and his brother Samuel Branch. They were both bricklayers. They supposedly fought for Va, did their time, got out and along with a handful of other Va folks headed north to the bustling city of Cinncinnatti, Ohio where there was a need for bricklayers. They ended up setteling in the area along the Ohio river of Ironton,Ohio/Ashland, Kentucky. This has been told to me as a kid from a great uncle who tells a heck of a story. I would appreciate any help on where to look or what to look for. I've never tried to find out anything like this before. Thanks John Cooke.
