Henry A. Cooke Jr., 80, of Ironton, died Tuesday at his residence. He was the husband of Delores Smith Cooke, who survives.

The Ironton native was born April 12, 1924, the son of Henry A. Cooke Sr., and Margaret Clark Cooke, both deceased. He was a retired masonry contractor, was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Cooke, a grandson, Michael Cooke and a brother, Samuel Cooke.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Mark Cooke of Columbus, John and Brenda Cooke of Athens, Ga., Luke and Loni Cooke of Jackson, Ga., and Matt and Melanie Cooke of Warnick, R.I.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Molly Cooke and Clara and James Jenkins, all of Ironton; eight grandchildren, Alison and J.D. Fraley, Lauren and Adam Roby, Christopher Cooke, Haley Cooke, Erin and Kerri Jenkins,; two great grandchildren, Parker and Lindsay Fraley; and a brother and sister-in-law, David and Audrey Cooke of Pinehurst, N.C.

Funeral liturgy will be 11 a.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with Father Thomas Nau officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of floral offerings, memorials are requested to Community Hospice, 1538 central Ave. Ashland, Ky. 41101.
