I just returned from a trip to Florida and found your e-mail of yesterday. I was a classmate of John Stewart Walker of Charleston; we both attended Christ School for Boys in Arden, N.C., where Stewart graduated a year before I did. He was quite an athlete and set all kind of records on the obstacle course Christ School built to prepare us to be ready to enter the service during World War II if called. c I have lost touch with Stewart and would like to know if you can update me. If it it at all possible, I would like to get a picture of Maj. John Stewart's wife's portrait which your family has. I would be happy to pay whatever expense are incurred. My wife and I will be driving through Lynchburg in May when we go to Richmond to celebrate my granddaughter's third birthday, which happens to fall on my birthday. What a blessing! If you happend to have any clippings concerning John Stewart and His wife, Lucy Mina Otey, (whom I understand organized a woman's hospital to provide care for Confederate wounded and was commissioned a captain by Jefferson Davis), I would apprciate any copies if available. Thanks again for your e-mail and best wishes to you and yours. -- David McCullough
