Strangly, his records in the Compiled Service Records for the 11th Virginia Cavalry are contained under the name:
Pvt. Henry M. Watkins.

No one of the name of James M. Wakins is found therein.

The 4th & 5th cards of five, state: "Pvt. Watkins was wounded and left in the hands of the enemy on the 6th day of July 6, 1863 at Hagerstown, Md."

I was hoping to find a Federal POW report on him which might have noted a burial site. No such information is there.

Other notes that he was due a Bounty and had never been paid.
