A skirmish occurred at Cabin Point on August 5, 1864 which is approximately 4 miles South of the James River, about 21 miles East from Petersburg, or around 35 miles SE from Richmond.
It is shown on a number of plates in the Atlas to accompany the Official Records.

It is mentioned in the Official Records, however, I cannot, at the present access my OR CD on this computer.
