Re: Edward Mosby, Confederate Soldier?

I assume you are all aware of the furore, some two or three years ago, over the claim that an Edward Mosby, who died on Thursday Island, far Northern Queensland, Australia, was assumed to have served in the Confederate Army, but there was absolutely no proof, whatsoever. The claimant, one James Mason Gray, famous for making many such claims, and even ordering Veterans Administration gravestones for persons buried in Australia, but later found to be buried in the United States, had no evidence whatsoever for this claim, and only went by the oral history spread by one member of the Mosby family (on Thursday Island). Just yesterday I received an e-mail from a gentleman who knows the Mosby family of Thursday Island well, and indicates that he has not come upon such claims before, and sees no evidence of it at all.
