Thank you for the info. Checked the Regimental Histories Series for William Lewis, the former husband of Sarah Ann. It appears that a William O. Lewis and a Samuel J.(Josiah-my great grandfather's middle name)served together in the 33rd Virginia Inf. Is it possible they would have servered together in the 33rd and then grandfather enlisting in the 63rd. I couldn't find any info on the demiss of William Lewis, but there was a William Lewis who was in the 50th whose rank out was listed as "unknown." Quite and interesting site to visit.
