Thank you for the additional information. Edward W. Redford Sr. was about 57 years old in 1862. He was born in Goochland Co., VA. I have seen that he died at Shiloh and I have seen that he died in WV. I do not know which is correct. His son Edward, was born in Goochland Co., VA in 1841. I don't know which one was in the 23rd Battalion, Co H of the Virginia Infantry. I have a copy of a Company Muster Roll that states that he was not paid because he was "absent sick at home in Goochland Co., VA since 1 Apr 1863." Did men that old fight in the Civil War? Thanks
