Thanks to both you, Mr. Hurd and to Johnny Reb for your quick responses. I have learned a new term today "galvanized". I had never heard that used with the military. Anyway, thank you for the information. I expect that the information about him being "galvanized" is probably correct, as his brother, Joseph C. Bishop, I believe was conscripted in 1864, which I have discussed on this message board before. Both of these men were from Floyd county, Va., which you both told me was a much divided county during the civil war.

I'll see what else I can find about these "galvanized" men.
