I believe that two of my great-great grandfathers were in the 30th battalion. I found info on Corp Wm Merton Bailiff (DOB 1831) and know he was in company E due to POW cemetery records from Point Lookout. He was captured at Winchester 9/19/1864. Died May 1865. I am new to this, but I have been having trouble confirming that the other grandfather, Francis Marion Slusher (DOB 1829), was in the 30th. I am curious if they fought in the same company since their children married. Any help would be appreciate. What I've read about that 3rd battle at Winchester made me wonder how many were captured that day. What a terrible loss of life.
