Frank Cooling's book had a table of organization that shows the 36th USCT in the District of Saint Mary's Maryland and a Provisional Brigade, under Major General Silas Casey, composed of detachments of the 23rd and 27th USCT and a company of the 31st USCT. Cooling does not mention any of these units as being engaged against Early's army.
