Interestingly, for such a short period of service, there are some 30 cards in his service record file. While hospitalized, he served a a Nurse and Ward Master.

Residence Portsmouth VA;
Enlisted on 5/15/1861 at Pig Point, Nansemond County as a Private.
On 5/15/1861 he mustered into "G" Co. VA 9th Infantry
He was discharged for disability on 12/1/1862
(Discharged for chronic bronchitis with occasional attacks
of asthma)

He was described at enlistment as:
5' 10.0", light complexion, blue eyes, light hair

(Born in 1818, Died in 1896)
