I have become quite the Civil War buff, but mainly in Stonewall related stuff.My cousin works at the Carnegie Library and was kind enough to get me the Lee Wallace book. Wm is in it, I am happy to say, but no picture.But when I got the National Archives muster rolls etc I found out that he had grey eyes like my father and it was pretty nice to know..My Dad's nickname for me was "Rebel" and now I appreciate it.
I also found out that at the end of the war about 83 men refused to sign the Oath unless the words "Freely and voluntarily" were removed. When I saw William's oath, those words weren't there. When I think of how young he was and what he saw and lived through, I am in awe. When I started this, I had no idea that Starr is almost as common as Smith.
