61st Virginia Infantry Photo

Peleg Pritchard was born May 5, 1843. Enlisted as a 3rd Corporal on 11 July 1861 in Company A, 7th Battalion Virginia infantry [this unit later became Company A, 61st Virginia Infantry]. Wounded on October 20, 1864 at Burgess Mill. Resident of Berkley, outside of Norfolk, Virginia. Postwar, worked as a grocer, mail agent and railroad postal clerk. Died on June 5, 1900. The woman identified as Pritchard’s wife, may possibly be his younger sister.
