Yes - it is really that simple and no - that is not a silly question.

9th Regiment Virginia Volunteers

1st Co H = Lunenburg Heavy Artillery
Enlisted June 11, 1861, for one year
Reorganized May 8, 1862
Assigned as Co C, [formerly Co D], 28th Battalion Virginia Infantry
to serve as infantry, per S.O. No. 233, A&IGO, dated September 24, 1862
Afterwards became Co H, 59th Regiment Virginia Infantry
S.O. No. 85, A&IGO, dated April 8, 1863 , reassigning company to the 9th Regiment Virginia Infantry was evidently revoked

2nd Co H = Hargrove Blues
formerly 1st Co I, 12th Regiment Virginia Infantry

records indicate company ceased to belong to the 12th Regiment Virginia Infantry at reorganization, May 1, 1862
