George Washington Curtis Lee entered West Point with the Class of 1854 on July 1, 1850, age 17 years 6 months, he graduated in 1854, 1st in a class of 46 cadets having stood 1st after four years, in all academic departments: Engineering, Ethics, Minerals & Geology, Infantry Tactics, Artillery, and Cavalry Tactics. Classmates included:
