Help tracking down soldiers

He folks after using the same tools I use almost daily I have been stumped in finding records on a Soldier from VA. His name is
Madison Linkenhoker. He is burind in Indiana along with several other Confederates. His marker which is badly detriotated says
he served with CO K 28th VA Inf. There was a UCV camp established in Ladoga, IN in the mid 1890's. It was
called Stonewall Jackson Camp #1. Madison Linkenhoker was listed as a
member of that camp as a member of Co K 28th VA Inf. A friend found his obituary
in the local paper and it said that he had returned to Gettysburg for the
50th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg. His stone fell over an lay
on the ground for 25 years until it became unreadable. We are trying to get him a new marker but cannot find no record of service. VA only has records of markers going back to 1996 ( already tried with them) Any help out there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark
