According to the 1860 census, James M. and Laban Puckett appear to be older brothers of Joshua Puckett. Both served in Co. "G", 29th Virginia Regiment. Thomas and William Puckett also served in the same company.

Joshua Puckett may have been too young (age 12 in 1860) to have enrolled.
