Re: John Frank Johnson of 48th VA

George, I greatly appreciate your sharing this information, but it brings a bit of confusion. You list:

* Paroled 6/1/1862 Winchester, VA age 29, 5 ft. 7 inches
* POW 6/8/1862 Cross Keys, VA
* Confined 6/9/1862 Steamer "Coatzacoalcos"

Was he paroled in Winchester a week before the battle in which he was captured? How would he have made it to navigable waters to be confined on the Coatzacoalcos the day after he became a POW?

And later, John Chapla suggests the Coatzacoalcos connection would have put John Frank at Fort Delaware in August 1862.

The bits and pieces of information I find online seem to confuse the picture of John Frank's Cross Keys "adventure," and this leads me to wonder what I'd find in ordering records online.

What do you think?
