Good Heavns! You're misreading his file and comingling the data from the CW Research Data folks.

The hard copy records in his CSR file, compiled by the US War Department ca 1900 were taken from then extant Confederate records.

I believe it to be most important that one obtain these hard copy files, no matter the cost. Then one can evaluate other inputs.

Note carefully, there is no statement as to the date he was taken onboard the Steamer C.
