Hello,

Actually, Jackson's 1862 Valley Army was not under the supply auspices of the Richmond Depot at the time. Thus, his command used a hodge podge of banners until his troops were brought to fight in the Peninsula Campaign.

A few of his regiments had the ANV silk issue flags from November, 1861. Most had First National flags. At least 20 of the regiments, in April, 1862, received the ANV wool/cotton flags that were made by some Richmond sewing circles according to Irby Scott of the 12th Georgia Infantry (whose flag of this issue survives in a Columbus, GA museum today). Scott stated these were drawn from Staunton, which was the supply depot for the valley, especially so in the 1864 campaign. This depot also made its own version of the ANV flags in 1864, one of which is pictured in the book 'Arms & Equipment Of the Confedracy" by Time-Life Books.

Hope this helps.
