Looking for my Newlin "aka" Newland relatives that fought for the Va.
Confederacy. I believe "both" my G.G.G.Uncles John Henry Newlin/Newland
and Matthias/Mathias Newlin/Newland fought for the 51st Va. Regiment.

I would "assume" that my G.G.G.Grandfather Lewis "aka" Louis Newlin/
Newland had to have fought as well. But I didn't find any fighting for
the Confederacy; but did find one fighting for the "other side" Union.
That makes me wonder "why" would two brothers choose the opposite sides
to fight for? I know it happened, but just questioned "why"? I know
my G.G.G.Grandfather Lewis/Louis NEWLIN/Newland survived the Civil War,
becaused he lived to father "17" children, and died in the early 1990s.

Any helpful information, I would be grateful and appreciative...
