Re: 51st, Reg. Co. H. VA,Conferate

Thank you very much for the information about the Harbour men in the 51st! I didn't realized that there would be so many.

It looks like I have my work cut out for me to track down the relationships to my family.

With regard to Gen Loring's Kanawha campaign of 1862, my gr. grandfather's brother, Sampson H. Deatherage, pvt of the 50th Va Inf., was mortally wounded during the attack on Charleston,Virginia (now, WV) on 13 September 1862. His name was listed on Medical Director John Hunter's report of Sept. 15, 1862 and we have a copy of a letter fron the Chaplain of the 50th Va, Rev. Geo. H. Denny, to my great grandfather's family describing Sampson's death and proper burial in a grave somewhere in Charleston.

It appears that the Kanawha campaign resulted in a lot of sad news for my ancestors.

Thanks again.

Dave Deatherage
