The Virginia in the Civil War Message Board

A Few Words About Book Promotion

Andrew,

I really like to reward participation in our discussions. In other words, the "quid pro quo" for book promotion on the message boards is for our "Contributing Authors" to rub elbows with our posters and participate in our discussions here on the message boards.

Now, your recent postings are acceptable, since you are contributing to our discussions and the book you linked to is a "free" offering. I have no more favorite Civil War author and educator than James Robertson, but I would normally not promote his books on the message boards, since he is not a contributor or a participant in our discussions. Oh, how I wish he were, maybe someday.

Since the book you reviewed is "on topic" for the Virginia in the Civil War Message Board and for the Civil War Book and Media Reviews Message Board, your posting is definitely acceptable on both.

Keep on posting and if I see something that is not appropriate to the message board(s), I'll delete it and try to send you a note as to why I took the action. Then, you'll have a chance to edit and re-post or, at least, understand why the message was removed.

Thanks for thinking about the appropriateness of your postings and being sensitive to the financial needs and policies on the site.

With best regards,

Jim Martin
Webmaster
