Re: Anyone with ancestors from 39th VA Calvary?
Hello Chris,
I was glad to come across your post regarding the 39th VA Cavalry. I bought a book from the Virginia regimental series covering 1st VA infantry,39th VA Cavalry and 24th VA Partisan Rangers by authors: Robert J Driver,Jr. and Kevin C. Ruffner. On page 151, I saw that your ancestor PVT Henry Dixon Robinson enrolled in Confederacy at Prince William Co.7-6-1863 and was paroled 4-22-1865 at Fairfax CH..............dark complexion, brown hair, blue eyes and died 11-26-1893 with burial at Oakdale Church Cem. in Greenwich..............Note I also read that he had a brother ; David S.Robinson a PVT in Company A of the 39th VA Cav. where he suffered alot of sickness during war but surrendered at Appomattox CH 4-9-1865 with horse and equipment. Later died 5-8-1908 and buried in Rollins family cem.on Old Wellington Rd in Prince William County. Hope this is helpful. Louis Lee, Fort Valley,GA
