The main places that he can go to get information about the calvary unit is at the farm house where R.E. Lee had his camp. There are exhibits inside the farm house that has actual quotes from the book that we have on the 39th. They were the ones who set up Lees' camp at the farm house. Also: the main Historical center ( near Cemetary Ridge) has a computer where you can enter your ancestors name and if he was there it will print out a certificate stating that the person was prsent at the Gettysburg battel.

I did find books available that you may want to look at regarding the 39th VA Calvary at
http://www.bedfordvamuseum.org/GiftStoreBooks01.htm
If you google Virginia regimental series.......................you probably will get more books on the 39th VA CAV.
I was luck in getting the book I mentioned earlier but I can not locate at the moment if they are still in business. There are several knowledgeable CW posters here that may be able to help, such as Johnny Reb,etc.
Again keep me posted as to what you find. Like I said the 39th VA Calvary was Lee's personal bodyguard unit and they had to be near Gen.Lee at all battles. Good luck
