Re: N.C.Fontaine-6th or 16th Va.Cav.?

In Michael Musick's book, 6th Virginia Cavalry, part of the H. E. Howard series, is listed one Nathaniel C. Fontaine, Company G. He is shown as having enlisted 28 March 1862 and serving through the final muster roll completed 22 March 1865. Additionally, Fontaine is shown as being alive in Marrowbone, Henry County on 18 December 1888.

There are NO Fontaine's listed in Jack Dickinson's book, 16th Virginia Cavalry, same series.

You will almost surely receive additional information in response to your post, however, this should answer your basic question.
