I'm trying to find the Confederate service record for my great grandfather, John Franklin Shephard. He was born (I believe) in Albemarle County, VA around 1828. A name similar to his shows up as being in the Albemarle Light Artillery (Capt. C. F. Johnston's Company, VA Artilley/ aka Everett Artillery). Similar names; John F. Shephard (Shepherd, Sheppard, etc.), Franklin Shephard, etc. show up in other Confederate units from VA. I have been concentrating on units near to where he was born or lived (based on the 1860 census).
