Does anyone have information on Elijah Smith, a member of the 30th Virginia Battalion Sharpshooters, company F. He was taken as a POW at Winchester in 1864 was released from Point Lookout based on a Presidential order dated 22 Feb 1865. I seen the order somewhere, and now cannot locate it. Any info on this soldier would be appreciated. Example, was he actually a sharpshooter or did he do something else in the company. Any insight will help in sorting 2 Elijah Smith's from the Roane County area of West Virginia. Thank you.
