Brig General Chambliss wounded

Currently doing research on Brig General Chambliss- 41 VA Infantry later transferred to 13th VA Cav...I have been successful in getting accurate battle records and service records, but the one thing I can not find more information on is Hospital or sick leave during his tenure of service before his death on August 16,1864 at 2nd Deep Bottom.

I did find a blip in the back of Daniel Balfour's 13th VA Cavalry Regimental History of "wded. and declared temporarily unable to continue service".

I also found in the Regimental History for the 41rst it mentions that he was sick for "most of June".

I can not find substantiating records thru the OR or National Archives that show that he was ever absent from duty except for a brief overnight leave when he rode home to Hicksford with a few of his staff members to visit family and that information was found in a personal family account.

Can anyone point me in a direction to how this information was acquired if from a book, battle report, personal account from a fellow soldier or even an official record?

This is for a college project so would really appreciate any light where the authors may have found they're information to publish accounts in their final publishing's so that I could add these details into my final report and give proper credit in my bibliography.
