Re: 50th Virginia Infantry Co E

Wow! John Chapla himself. I feel very honoured that you have taken an interest in my post, and would sincerely appreciate you sharing any data you have regarding casualties. I have only 15 names for the period may 5-20, less than half of what you have been able to find.
Most of the information I have I found by googling '50th Virginia Regiment' or '50th Virginia Infantry' 'killed wilderness' or 'killed spotsylvania'. I found half a dozen names through 'Find a Grave'. Have you heard of them? I went through their list of internments for the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania Confederate Cemeteries which is where I found James R Ritchie. He had his left leg amputated as a result of the battle of the Wilderness and his record goes on to state "No further record". As he is buried in the Spotsylvania Confederate Cemetery, I made my own conclusion. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=ritchie&GSiman=1&GScid=49866&GRid=11140659&
As for John W Wade, I found him through some family geneology webpages such as rootsweb. Several pages refer to this man and provide various ammounts of information, including this one: http://kueber.us/ui47.htm
But again, I must confess, nothing that specifically says kia or d.o.w wilderness or spotsylvania.
I have not been able to devote as much time to all of this as I would like. Being a New Zealander, I'm not able to access the same kinds of material as someone on the ground in the States. In addition, I've spent most of the last 7 years working in China, which even limits some of the websites I can see. But my sojourn in China ends permenantly late July next year, so I can get stuck again then. I found out about a website called 'Historical Data Systems' which I will subscribe to once I return home, and, as I have been doing for a long time now, will keep looking for a copy of your book for sale on the internet.
One more thing, how many fatalaties do you have for Second Cold Harbour? I have only found one. Corporal Stoops of company K.
Thank you sir. Look forward to hearing from you again. My email is mattpnth@hotmail.com if your would prefer to contact me directly.

regards,
Matt
