Re: Battle of Seven Pines/Fair Oaks

Federal forces under "The Beast" Butler and the X Corps attacked Confederate positions on The Darbytown Road on October 27th and 28th (1864). While the 18th Corps (those poor fellows in the 18th) were repulsed by Maj. Gen. Charles W. Field's Confederate Division at Fair Oaks. Over 600 Federal prisoners were taken. Fair Oaks was a rail station just off Williamsburg Road. Only a few minutes march from Seven Pines. I get breakfast at the Hardees as often as possible just down from the rail crossing at Fair Oaks. One of my Masonic Brothers has a business just off the tracks between Nine Mile Road and I-64. You're in my backyard Bryce. Better watch out. We still watch for yankees.
