Re: Anyone with ancestors from 39th VA Calvary?
Mary, I have also followed the activity regarding your ancestor; Pvt James W.Riley,of the 39th VA Calvary. From a book by Robert J Driver,Jr. and Kevin C. Ruffner, regarding their VA regimental series, I found additional info which noted your ancestor; Pvt James W.Riley was captured 11-8-1862 and sent to Old Capitol, where he was exchanged on 11-18-1862. Later notes say he was paroled Winchester 5-2-1865 at age 33 ,5 foot 10 inches, fair complexion,,dark brown hair, hazel eyes, res.New Baltimore Fuuquier Co. Buried Confederate Cemetary,Manassas,no dates. Your reguest for info caught my eye,as my ancestor Capt.Samuel B Brown was also in the 39th VA Calvary, but in Company C.
