Re: Andrew Ferrell / Drewry's Ridge Battle

Majority of the dead were initially grouped up and buried on the field, other than those that had immediately been claimed and recovered. Since active field operations had shifted a couple miles south, it took a couple days till the dead of both sides were buried in haste, Reportedly completed on May 20th. Post-war the Federals were recovered and reintered into the new National Cemetery. Majority of the remaining confederates that could be located, were mostly unidentified at this point were reinterred in a mass grave in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.

Evidence suggested that most had been gathered up and buried in groups on the nearby farms that were located in the area of the engagement. However there are some that were known to have been buried single or small numbers that were evidently missed and re-discovered many years later. They also were moved to Hollywood. There is a section in Hollywood with a single stone marker identifying the "Drewrys Bluff Dead". Andrew Ferrell is not listed amoungst the identified buried at Hollywood.
