27th Battalion VA Partisan Rangers..at Suffolk VA?

In working to produce a critical edition of an ancestor's unpublished memoir of cavalry service, I've found myself working to expand his rather brief references to persons & places. A short maddening reference then to a Colonel "Edmunds" present at the Battle of Kelly's Store/ Deserted House, fought January 30, 1863, near Suffolk VA. The group of persons described, including "Edmunds," were part of the force brought by Brigadier Gen'l. Roger A. Pryor to the Blackwater frontier of Union-held Suffolk, VA, a force reputed to include several hundred cavalry. I'm having trouble, though, find a regimental list of those units that participated, beyond infantry and artillery batteries. My guess at this point was that the 27th VA Battalion Partisan Rangers (Cavalry) were part of this group, headed by Lt. Col. Henry Alonzo EDMUNDSON, which if true would solve the puzzle. The 50th VA Infantry and the 54th VA Infantry were both present, the latter coincidentally the previous regimental assignment for Edmundson prior to the switch to the 27th Partisan Rangers. So the question: does anyone out there have a proof for placing the 27th at the Battle of Kelly's Store? The closest I've come is a line in Pryor's after-action report, which mentions "Edmundson's Battalion" being placed in a reserve position, per the ORWR. The alternate unit-name index for that volume of the ORWR mentions that "Edmundson's Battalion" does indeed refer to the 27th Partisan Rangers. A nice sort-of proof, but I think I can do better than that.....at least, with some help! Thanks for any assistance. David Fletcher, Richmond, VA.
