I've not been able to find on-line anything of note on the 26th Virginia Infantry, nor could I find anything in the Official Records of their history during the Petersburg action.
He is recorded in the records only as "killed, Petersburg trenches,"
Here are the only two pieces found in the unit bibliography at the U. S. Army Military History Institute, Carlisle Barracks, Pa.
Wiatt, Alex L. Confederate Chaplain, William Edward Wiatt: An Annotated Diary. Lynchburg, VA: Howard, 1994. 255 p.
Wiatt, Alex L. 26th Virginia Infantry. Lynchburg, VA: Howard, 1984. 82 p.
There very well be something here as Chaplain Wiatt authenticated the pension application of B. F. West.
