Strange, but not unheard of, A. H. James and James E. Hill are listed with the same National Archives Box, Roll and Record: 000374, 0022, 00003989. They are both shown with 20th Al. Infan. in as a private out as Sergeant. If you look up the compiled service records, there may be some confusion. The compiled service records can be found at major libraries in Al. or the National Archives and Records. The Atlanta regional office is a good place to visit, the records may be ordered for Atlanta or Montgomery (the Alabama Dept. of Archives and records).
